Copper Carbonate (Raw Materials) - Vessel & Glaze

Copper Carbonate, also known as cupric carbonate, is an inorganic compound widely appreciated for its vivid color properties in ceramics, glass, and pigments, and serves as an essential ingredient in numerous industrial applications. Its ability to produce stunning green and blue colors, especially in ceramics, makes it a favorite among artists and manufacturers alike.

Copper Carbonate, in pottery, is a popular colorant used to produce vibrant green and turquoise glazes. When fired, it decomposes into copper oxide, which reacts with the glaze components to create rich colors that can vary from light green to deep turquoise or even red, depending on the firing atmosphere and temperature. In oxidation firings, copper carbonate typically yields bright greens, while in reduction firings, it can result in stunning blue or red tones. Its versatility and strong color response make it a go-to material for potters aiming to create dynamic and eye-catching glaze effects in both decorative and functional ceramics.
